To every Africa Leader.

This is an open letter to every leader and emerging leader in Africa. 

Sure you could get Mugged on the streets of Lagos but it's just as bad in New York. If poverty was the problem of Africa then I guess you will need to check the unemployment index of the developed world, The homelessness and the depravity. Now that is something you won't see on CNN probably on Al-Jazeera. When a country spends more on status creation and sustenance than it spends on welfare of its citizens. Could that be our model of development? Nations that has sold the soul of its people to any and everyone who has a good proposal and the funds to back it up.

Capitalism is a system that grows. Reasonable on paper but potentially has the power to overthrow the Government that has the proverbial fingers that fed it. What do I know about capitalism, other than every thing is for sale at the right price that is lethal but on the flip side it relieves the Government of the burden of development but at a Price. I believe in freedom but I also believe that freedom does not exclude control. The leadership of Africa needs to study development beyond the neon lights and sky scraper to the systems and institutions that created what we see as First world and second world. When we have done that we can avoid the errors of the past and build a new utopia in the land once referred to as dark.

Now the Big question that begs for an answer from all my rants. How do you control a system and not call it socialism or its extreme relation, communism. Herein lies the answer: growth and development has to be governed by values that ensure that no persons right is trampled nor is anyone at ease to be unproductive. Where values are present and upheld the society grows into a whole. This is what leadership must communicate not just attempt to feed the less privileged, if you succeed in feeding them all you will have to do it again tomorrow.
